The Artist-Teacher of Ozamiz
“Dren” works as a Senior High School teacher of Lycée St. Jean Baptiste De La Salle in Ozamiz City. He finished his Bachelor of Arts in Communication degree from La Salle University just this year, where he received the Institutional Leadership Award for his efforts as an active and empowered student. This native of Lanao del Norte advocates for the youth to appreciate their own culture and arts, in this age where people tend to forget their roots as digitalization is on the spotlight. A talented performing artist by his own rights, he represented the country in the Solo International Performing Arts Festival (SIPA) in neighboring country Indonesia just this year. He applied for AISEP with the hopes of experiencing the culture and arts of India. He expects that there will be a lot of tours and networking during the program, knowing for a fact that he will be with not only fellow Filipinos but other ASEAN representatives as well. He shares that he was hosting an event the night when the announcement of successful AISEP applicants was made and that he got lost in the middle of it. After the AISEP program, he envisions of setting up an exhibit for him to share his experiences and eventually establish a network among his AISEP fellows for his plans in the future. He believes that his visit to India will make his dream come true. Before, he just painted Taj Mahal in canvass. Now, there is a great chance that he will not only visualize it through his eyes anymore, he will actually see it in person. |
